WHAT IS REIKI?

Reiki is the Japanese art of using life-force energy to help the body heal, relax, and regain mind/body equilibrium. Reiki was discovered in 1922 by Buddhist Mikao Usui. A Reiki practitioner offers this energy by placing their hands on you with the intention that the healing energy flows into your body. When the energy flow in the body is hindered, one is more susceptible to stress and sickness; Reiki can gently relieve the blockage to allow the body to heal itself. Reiki is a simple, natural and safe method of healing and self-improvement.

WHAT IS REIKI GOOD FOR?

Reiki uses natural life-force energy that helps the body repair itself, so there is nothing that Reiki doesn’t have the potential to heal. Reiki gives the body a huge boost so that the healing process can happen much faster. Reiki treats the whole person including body, emotions and mind. This creates many beneficial effects that include relaxation and feelings of peace, security and well-being.

What takes place during a session?

You lie face up on the table. The practitioner gently places their hands on any part of the body that needs work. Energy then softly helps the body.

Will the session feel strange?

No, the energy that is used is natural to the body and cannot harm it. You will not feel strange or uncomfortable. Some clients report feeling a warm glow.

Will I be clothed for the session?

Life-force energy can pass through clothing. Wear whatever makes you comfortable. All that is required is for you to remove jackets or shoes.

HOW WILL A REIKI SESSION MAKE ME FEEL?

Reiki can have a number of very positive effects, including: feeling relaxed, calm, warm, refreshed, energized, less anxious, less fearful, and a greater sense of well-being. In addition, you may find that any wounds you have may heal faster and that Reiki can help alleviate pain. After the session, plan to take the first twenty minutes lightly. Go for a short walk, meditate, or just sit quietly.
